The US Navy Body Fat formula is a method developed by the United States Navy to estimate a person's body fat percentage using simple measurements: height, neck, waist, and hip (for women). It is a practical alternative to more expensive methods like DEXA or hydrostatic weighing.

How to take the measurements correctly?

  • Height: Measure without shoes, standing straight.
  • Neck: Measure below the larynx, with the tape slightly tilted downward at the front.
  • Waist: For men, at the navel level. For women, at the narrowest part of the abdomen.
  • Hip (Women only): At the widest part of the buttocks.
